For Archery Elk Hunting 2011 I just purchased the new Cold Steel Master Hunter hunting knife. The knife features high quality Japanese steel VG-1 San Mai blade. I purchased this knife on amazon at a substancial savings. The "Cold Steel Master Hunter" retails for $139.95. I puchased mine on amazon for $84.00 and shipping was an additional $5.60.
Special Features: San Mai VG-1 Japanese Blade 3/16 thick, Kraton Handle, Concealex Sheath, 5 year manufacturer warranty.

"First off let me say this is a great knife and I am very impressed with it so far. Out of the package it is razor charp. Great balance and traditional styling. The KRATON handle is very comfortable to grip and is a highly non-slip textured surface. The concealex shealth is awesome. It has a loop snap attachment which allows adding the knife to your belt or removing it a piece of cake. The knife fits down into the shealth tightly and has a snap loop for added security. If you notice from the picture above the shealth has holes around the edges that allow for paracord attachment to your leg or where desired. I did a lot of shopping before deciding on this perticular knife and all the reviews are 4.5 out of 5 stars or better. I am going to wait to give my overall ratings on the Cold Steel Master Hunter until after I use it to field dress an elk."

"To care for the cold steel master hunter is easy. Just clean it with soap and water then add a small amount of oil to the blade and store it in a cool dry place. To sharpen this knife DO NOT USE A GRINDER OR ANY MOTORIZED SHARPENING DEVICE ON THE COLD STEEL SAN MAI BLADE! This will void your warranty. For sharpening make sure to get a good sharpening stone. For best results use a wet stone application. This allows for the slurry that is created from the stone/water which in turn really gets tghe knife sharp. In a seperate review I will be speaking about proper techniques for sharpening a knife with a wet stone."
This is a must have hunting knife. The price is reasonable if ordered through amazon and the quality is a given from Cold Steel!
